What is an Entrepreneur? Being an entrepreneur is more than just 'starting a business'. Being an entrepreneur is a mindset and attitude that some have and most dont. The definition of entrepreneurship is: "The process in which individuals identify oportunities, allocate resources and create value". Entrepreneurs are often visionarys, they see problems as opportunities and they then solve that problem by creating a business that offers a service or product that takes the problem away.

You can think of the process abit like a river crossing - An entrpreneur identifiys the problem of not being able to cross a river, so they allocate the resources and build a bridge, they then charge people to use there bridge. They find a problem, solve it and then charge people to use or buy there solution.

Entrepreneurs and the midset they have can be very complicated. They are known as risk takers who are not affriad of failing but that is not 100% the truth! They take many risks, but they are calculated risks and they put in the effort to bring there idea and business out the other side of that 'risk zone' even better and even more succesful than before. Many people would like to be an entrepreneur and many people think it is a 'simple' process with alot of benefits but what people dont see is the pain, time and effort put into a business before it gets recignised as a successfull business. The follow are the realitys of being an entrepreneur.

  1. Its stressful. - Meeting your own demands and timelines is hard, especially when your own finances are on the line!
  2. Its a never ending cycle - You may think working for someone else is tough but being an entrepreneur is never ending. You may leave the office at 6pm but youl spend the rest of the night mentaly still in the office. It can also be very demanding when starting a business as you are playing every role from CEO, manager and sales to the daily cleaner.
  3. It can ber very fustrating - Just imagine you've been working on an hour long presentation for a media festival in a few days but it has suddenly been called of due to flooding or the goods you need for a trade fair tommorow have been damaged during shipping, when something like this happens it can be very fustrating!
The Good Bits To Entrepreneurship
  1. Its Exceptionally Rewarding - When you achieve success you can be rewarded both financialy and emotionaly. To see the business you started on your own, be brought up to a successful point can be a great feeling; its a great achievement to have. A business can become like you child; you are emotionally rewarded everytime it succeds and devlops.
  2. It Flexible - Once your business is rolling and able to stand on its own two legs you will have a flexible life. Running a business is no 9-to-5 and you do not have to ask permission from your boss if you want to leave early; to pick up the kids from school. Once you have started your own business, you wont be able to go back to a 9-to-5 job again!
  3. Creativerty - Being an entreprenur and running a business gives many the chance to create. The ability and the goal of creating something that will change peoples lives and the world for the better and maybe even still be around once your gone is a goal that can motivate many entrepreneurs to threw to success!
